Volcán de Fuego

The Volcán de Fuego, is a volcano located in a point shared by the departaments Chimaltenango, Sacatepéquez and Escuintla of Guatemala. It has an elevation of 3,763 meters  above sea level.

At present, it is very risky to ascend to its crater, by its constant activity, but it is possible to have a safe approach in the first ridge.

To ascend the volcano the usual path is the same as that of Acatenango, starting at La Soledad Village, Chimaltenango, from there up to an intersection, towards "el bosque". The day I ascended, I came upon the next sight ...

Then, in the morning, it was time to return, we faced the great Acatenango, something I had not noticed, a sinking, I suppose it is an old crater.

Already between the two volcanoes, you can notice something interesting, a large number of logs, remains of trees, according to the mountain guide, some time ago there was a forest fire that ended with a large number of them, leaving them charred.
